The night before Missouri’s deer rifle opener, family and friends gather around a campfire at the farm. Rob’s mom and dad come up, venison chili is served, and the evening fills with laughter and stories. Tomorrow brings the hunt. Tonight is for being together.
Rob, a retired Army Chief Warrant Officer from the St. Louis area, bought the land after retirement as a gathering place for his family. His wife and children, his brothers and their families, and his parents were joined by Army friends and family friends—including the app’s developer and his sons.
Before the property had an official name, the group simply called it Uncle Rob’s Farm. Over the seasons, that place became part of the family’s traditions—and those three words became URF. Each year brings new memories, shared lessons, and the kind of camaraderie that carries from one hunt to the next.
The group wanted an app everyone could use without breaking the bank. They named it URF Hunting, after the place where so many of those memories began. It grew from a simple need: a place to bring hunting spots, maps, weather, and field observations together, so everyone could prepare, share what they learned, and keep a record of their time outdoors.
URF Hunting carries those roots into every season: useful tools for the hunt, and a connection to the people who make it worth remembering.
